“The 2022 Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet with purple edges, revealing vibrant aromas of black and Bing cherry and boysenberry. Flavors follow in step, adding blue and red fruits with notes of cocoa, black olive and sage. It is richly-layered with wonderful freshness and bright energy. Georgia is grown on a three acre, dry-farmed estate vineyard in Yountville. This exquisite, Graves-style (dry white Bordeaux) Sauvignon Blanc is fermented and aged in 100% French oak barrels for eighteen months. It displays unprecedented depth and complexity, amazing texture, and a long lingering finish. Lail Vineyards was the first winery in the New World to produce a Sauvignon Blanc in this complex and captivating style, beginning with the 2002 vintage. The proprietary name celebrates the first member of the sixth generation of our family’s winemaking in Napa Valley, Georgia Eileen. “ Georgia Sauvignon Blanc 2022 is medium straw in color. Intense and lifted, the aromas burst forth with vanillin, white flowers and citrus zest notes. Flavors of white peach, dried apricot and tangerine envelop the palate. There are the hallmark Georgia expressions of minerality, white truffle and toasted brioche filling out the zingy and energetic finish. The oak is beautifully integrated, framing and enhancing this gorgeous wine like a fine painting.”

“Vintage 2022's growing season was challenging, testing the vineyard and winemaking teams alike. Lenghty hot weather in early September created stress in the vines and slowed ripening. Once the vines rebounded, the fruit yielded powerful flavors with early accessibility. The tannins are focused, ripe and round. Aromas and flavors tend to the black fruits, with ripe aromas and soft mouthfeel. Wells Wilder Casten is the youngest of our family’s 6th generation. Her name is derived from the Wellington boot, first commissioned by the Duke of Wellington in 1815. A nod to our farming heritage, wellies are a hallmark of country life, both hardy and elegant. Fittingly our Welly has a singular love of gumboots and tutus, a teeny stardust in the vineyard and on the street. Like its spirited namesake, our Welly Cabernet Sauvignon is unabashedly expressive and pure. This wine is our tribute to her, and to our family’s 140 years of turning dirt into liquid splendor.

VINTAGE AND TASTING NOTES

“Vintage 2022 was a rollercoaster in Napa Valley, challenging the skill and experience of the grape growers and winemakers alike. Fortunately, Philippe Melka and his great team were up to the task, and the 2022 wines are "ripe, soft and incredibly charming" according to leading critic Jeb Dunnuck. Deep purple-black in color, Welly Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 has its classic black fruit aromas of boysenberry, wild blackberries and black cherry preserves, accented by sweey oak vanillin and dark chocolate. The medium-full bodied palate is expansive and creamy, framed by ripe, velvety tannins, with flavors of ripe plum and black raspberry. The finish is round, persistent, and (as Jeb accurately says)" incredibly charming.”

Mole Hill is the crown jewel of Lail Vineyards. It is an ultra-luxury wine bordering on decadent with its showcase of Howell Mountain seductive aromatics, velvety palate of fascinating complexity and a lingering finish which remains when you set down your glass. Production is small and demand is big. Produced only from the best growing seasons, this serious wine also has a sense of humor. Each year the path of the mole changes on the label designating a new vintage for your collection.

Mole Hill 2021 offers a mesmerizing nose of blue and black fruits, leading to a velvety texture replete with sweet, fine tannins. The signature Howell Mountain flavors leap forth: blackberry compote, boysenberry jam, black raspberry and dark chocolate. Texbook taut acidity and archetypal personality create length and persistence, driving this wine forward to a long and vibrant finish.
