“We invite you to explore our collection of six wines…”
2022 vintage to be released in June

In February 2019, Robin Lail was made the U.S. Representative to the Porto Protocol, a global initiative asking companies to demonstrate their leadership on climate action and share best practices. Our Blueprint wines celebrate these pioneers and architects of innovation for putting the health of our planet ahead of quarterly reports and the bottom line. At Lail Vineyards we invite you to do the same. Make a commitment. Inspire your neighbor.

WINEMAKER NOTES

“Blueprint Sauvignon Blanc in vintage 2021 proves the old adage that smaller is often better. Although yields were less than 50% of normal, the quality in 2021 was exceptionnal. It shows layered aromas of apricot, tangerine and orange blossoms. The texture is rich flavors of golden berries, grapefruit, guava and passionfruit. It is delightfully crisp and vibrant, yet with an extra dimension of complexity and varietal typicity. The oak adds special notes of vanillin and brioche. This is a dazzling showing for Blueprint Sauvignon Blanc.”— Philippe Melka & Maayan Koschitzky, Winemakers

2019 Sauvignon Blanc

Georgia is grown on a three acre, dry-farmed estate vineyard in Yountville. This exquisite, Graves-style (dry white Bordeaux) Sauvignon Blanc is fermented and aged in 100% French oak barrels for eighteen months. It displays unprecedented depth and complexity, amazing texture, and a long lingering finish. Lail Vineyards was the first winery in the New World to produce a Sauvignon Blanc in this complex and captivating style, beginning with the 2002 vintage. The proprietary name celebrates the first member of the sixth generation of our family’s winemaking in Napa Valley, Georgia Eileen. It has been called by a leading wine writer”…California’s most complex and multi-dimensional Sauvignon Blanc.”

WINEMAKER NOTES

“ Seamless, seductive and beguiling, Lail's 2019 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc is medium straw color. It positively tap dances across the palate with pure flavors of tangerine, pamplemousse, and lemongrass. The flavors include honeysuckle, orange blossom, and apricot. There are the hallmark Georgia expressions of minerality, white truffle and toasted coconut filling out the remarkably long and energetic finish. This is another Georgia that flirts with perfection.”

J. DANIEL CUVÉE STORY

“I was raised by my dad. John Daniel, Jr., in the grand family tradition of Inglenook. He was, like Gustave Niebaum before him, a leader, an innovator, and the producer of legendary wines. Our flagship wine at Lail Vineyards, the J. Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon, is named in his honor. My greatest challenge at Lail Vineyards is to create wines that meet and exceed the level of excellence set by my family in earlier generations."- Robin Daniel Lail

WINEMAKER NOTES

“J. Daniel Cuvée in vintage 2019 is a showstopper. Classic and intense aromas of blackberry jam, cassis and boysenberry puree lead to flavors that explode on the palate, with cascades of younthful black cherry, dark chocolate and black tea. This beauty is at the same time powerful and poised. It is seemingly endless on the finish, with gorgeous and fine tannins carrying it to a crescendo of lushness and generosity. It is seamless, pure and delicious." — Philippe Melka & Maayan Koschitzky, Winemakers

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

Wells Wilder Casten is the youngest of our family’s 6th generation. Her name is derived from the Wellington boot, first commissioned by the Duke of Wellington in 1815. A nod to our farming heritage, wellies are a hallmark of country life, both hardy and elegant. Fittingly our Welly has a singular love of gumboots and tutus, a teeny stardust in the vineyard and on the street. Like its spirited namesake, our Welly Cabernet Sauvignon is unabashedly expressive and pure. This wine is our tribute to her, and to our family’s 140 years of turning dirt into liquid splendor.

WINEMAKER NOTES

“2019 was a fabulous vintage in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, produce excellent wines full of character and pizazz. The long and moderate growing season allowed for the flavors to develop slowly and precisely. Deep garnet with purple edges, Welly Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 has enticing aromas of ripe plum, blackberry puree, anise, forest floor and toasted coconut. Flavors pile on, adding briary black raspberry, olallieberry, boysenberry, and fresh cedar. There are fine and creamy tannins that lay forth a silky, seamless, luxurious and rich finish. This wine is the total package: a linebacker in a tutu.”

Mole Hill is the crown jewel of Lail Vineyards. It is an ultra-luxury wine bordering on decadent with its showcase of Howell Mountain seductive aromatics, velvety palate of fascinating complexity and a lingering finish which remains when you set down your glass. Production is small and demand is big. Produced only from the best growing seasons, this serious wine also has a sense of humor. Each year the path of the mole changes on the label designating a new vintage for your collection.

WINEMAKER NOTES

"Vintage 2019 was pure beauty in Napa Valley, with an easy growing season delivering grapes with wonderful balance and intensity. For this vintage of Mole Hill, tantalizing aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, and black cherry lead into broad and layered wild blackberry, boysenberry, and black raspberry flavors. It is framed by classic briar, vanilla cream and mocha notes supported by elegant and fine tannins and taut acidity. This is a classic expression of Howell Mountain and the Mole Hill vineyard.”
