WINEMAKER'S NOTES

“Blueprint Sauvignon Blanc in vintage 2020 had additional barrel influence, resulting in a broader and creamier demeanor. It shows intense aromas of stone fruits, white flowers, and pear. The texture is richly layered, with flavors of vanilla, melons and citrus. It is delightfully vibrant and fresh, yet with an extra dimension of complexity and varietal completeness. This will be a fun wine to watch as it develops, in the bottle and in the glass.”— Philippe Melka & Maayan Koschitzky, Winemakers

“Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 J. Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 75% new. Very deep garnet-purple in color, it soars out of the glass with seductive notes of crème de cassis, blueberry preserves and Black Forest cake, followed by suggestions of espresso, yeast extract, black truffles and charcoal plus a fragrant waft of violets. Full-bodied, rich and opulently fruited in the mouth, it has layer upon layer of black fruit preserves, earthy nuances and savory sparks, framed by firm, finely grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and fragrant."- Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

2018 Sauvignon Blanc - 94-96 PTS, Wine Advocate

Georgia is grown on a three acre, dry-farmed estate vineyard in Yountville. This exquisite, Graves-style (dry white Bordeaux) Sauvignon Blanc is fermented and aged in 100% French oak barrels for eighteen months. It displays unprecedented depth and complexity, amazing texture, and a long lingering finish. Lail Vineyards was the first winery in the New World to produce a Sauvignon Blanc in this complex and captivating style, beginning with the 2002 vintage. The proprietary name celebrates the first member of the sixth generation of our family’s winemaking in Napa Valley, Georgia Eileen. It has been called by a leading wine writer”…California’s most complex and multi-dimensional Sauvignon Blanc.”

WINEMAKER'S NOTES

“Georgia Sauvignon Blanc 2018 is medium straw color, and has captivating white peach, vanilla bean, brioche and lemongrass aromatics. Rich in texture, there are intense flavors of apricot, lemon curd, and nectarine. It is powerful, sophisticated, round and long on the palate, with all the hallmarks of this wonderful Graves-inspired yet wholly California interpretation of the Sauvignon Blanc grape.”

2018 Cabernet Sauvignon

Wells Wilder Casten is the youngest of our family’s 6th generation. Her name is derived from the Wellington boot, first commissioned by the Duke of Wellington in 1815. A nod to our farming heritage, wellies are a hallmark of country life, both hardy and elegant. Fittingly our Welly has a singular love of gumboots and tutus, a teeny stardust in the vineyard and on the street. Like its spirited namesake, our Welly Cabernet Sauvignon is unabashedly expressive and pure. This wine is our tribute to her, and to our family’s 140 years of turning dirt into liquid splendor.

WINEMAKER NOTES

“Welly 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, like its namesake, is unabashedly expressive and pure. Wonderfully-younthful deep purple in color, the aromas virtually leap from the glass, with dark red plum and black cherry leading the charge. The texture is seamless and regal, and the long finish shows off black raspberry, blackberry, and black olive, with minerality and forest floor bringing up the rear. The vibrant, intense and pure character of the 2018 vintage truly shines through in this beauty.”

Mole Hill is the crown jewel of Lail Vineyards. It is an ultra-luxury wine bordering on decadent with its showcase of Howell Mountain seductive aromatics, velvety palate of fascinating complexity and a lingering finish which remains when you set down your glass. Production is small and demand is big. Produced only from the best growing seasons, this serious wine also has a sense of humor. Each year the path of the mole changes on the label designating a new vintage for your collection.

WINEMAKER NOTES

"Vintage 2016 was the last of a five-year drought in Napa Valley, so there was worry that the vineyards would be tired and thus struggle to produce fully ripe fruit. That certainly turned out not to be true. The 2016 wines are replete with intense aromas and immense flavors. With the 2016 Mole Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain shines forth with black fruits, driving acidity, complex tannins, and great energy and vibrancy. It's all here: blackberry compote, boysenberry jam, black raspberry preserves and dark chocolate sweetness. Clearly one of the very best Mole Hill bottlings ever, it reflects the fabulous 2016 vintage all the way through”
